After France took an early lead in Tuesday's showdown, 16-year-old Yamal pulled La Roja level with a stunning effort from outside the box, making him the youngest scorer in European Championship history. A few minutes later, Spain were ahead and went on to book a place in the final with a 2-1 victory.

Before the game, France's Rabiot sounded rather dismissive of the Barcelona and Spain sensation's ability to impact the result, saying that the teenager would "have to do much more than what he has done so far" to help his team overpower Les Bleus.
Yamal responded perfectly, however, and shouted "speak now" at the camera after the final whistle in an apparent direct response to Rabiot. He also posted a 'checkmate' update on Instagram before and after game, while fellow Spain international Porro has also taken to social media to rub it in the Frenchman's face.
WHAT PORRO SAID
Posting on X, Porro quoted a post showing Rabiot's quote and added the caption: "If he was missing one thing, at 16 years old, [it was] scoring this great goal in your face".

Spain's young hero will turn 17 years old on Saturday. The celebrations will surely be subdued, however, as his side prepare to take on either England or Netherlands in the Euro 2024 final the following day.
