da dobrowin: As reported by The Express and Star, West Ham United are mulling over making a move for West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon this summer.
What’s the story?
da winzada777: The striking woes of West Ham in recent seasons have been well-documented with faltering signings, injury problems and lack of consistency all adding up to a headache not just for Slaven Bilic but for Irons supporters too.
Undoubtedly in the market for a striker this summer, it seems that Bilic may have found the man he wants to inject some firepower into his starting eleven.
The Express and Star say the Hammers are considering a bid for Salomon Rondon, who has had an inconsistent couple of seasons at West Brom.
The outlet say the Venezuelan is one of a number of strikers on Bilic’s wishlist, but the Baggies may not be keen on selling considering they rejected a big Chinese bid for him in January.
Is he the answer?
The question of whether Rondon would be a good buy for West Ham comes down to what role Slaven Bilic intends for him at the Hammers. As a first choice there is a chance that the striker could simply continue the incosistent woes that the club have struggled with in recent years. However, as a different option or back-up for the injury-prone Andy Carroll then a move for him begins to make more sense.
Rondon has scored just 18 goals in 78 matches for West Brom, which is not the kind of striking rate that will excited Hammers fans. However, he does offer more as a player than just goalscoring, with a real physical presence and the ability to bring players around him into attacking moves.
Is that the kind of player West Ham need, or do they need a more clinical poacher type attacker?
