Arsene Wenger has already missed out on Jamie Vardy and could lose out again.
Alexandre Lacazette, who appears to be linked with most clubs, looks as though he is being lured away by Juventus to Serie A. That means that both Premier clubs, Arsenal and long-time admirers, West Ham, will have missed another opportunity to sign an overpriced striker from France.
Since Mr. Wenger will not pay over the odds for anyone, Lacazette’s increasingly spiralling fee will put the Frenchman off and his search for a quality forward will continue.
Arsenal have pots of money to spend and so far Wenger has been reluctant to use much of it, much to the chagrin of the supporters.
However, this season, Arsenal really do need better than Olivier Giroud or someone alongside to help the French striker, as he continues to be one of the most inconsistent in the Premier League.
So, here are FOUR alternatives for Wenger to ponder…
Karim Benzema
Arsenal were linked with the frontman 12 months ago, but nothing came of it, but now, Real Madrid might want to sell.
Los Blancos are after Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski. If they get their man, Benzema could be on his way out and Wenger will surely want to snap him up. Madrid President, Florentino Perez is a big fan of the Polish striker, although Zidane wants to keep his fellow countryman at Real.
At 28, Benzema has been tracked by Wenger since his days at Lyon. 111 goals in 215 appearances is reason enough to pursue this striker.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
The Borussia Dortmund striker was thought to be heading to the Etihad not so long ago, but Wenger is more than just a little interested in the 27-year-old Gabon striker.
54 goals in 94 appearances for the Bundesliga star means that there will be a race for the pacey forward. One the deadliest strikers in the world just now, Aubameyang bagged 39 goals last season in 49 appearances, but doubts as to whether he will leave have increased in recent days. Dortmund are being picked apart by clubs and could see up to four of their stars leaving this summer, so they’ll fight to keep ‘Auba’, one would presume.

Stefan Jovetic
The Inter forward is still considered the most likely player to move to the Emirates this summer. The Montenegrin, according to Sport Mediaset, who are one of a number of media outlets linking the player with a switch to north London, suggested that he was not part of Roberto Mancini’s plans at San Siro.
Jovetic signed a permanent contract with Inter from Manchester City following an 18-month loan deal not long ago, yet a fee of around £13m could see him wearing the red and white of Arsenal.

Romelu Lukaku
The Everton man is being targeted by Wenger behind the scenes.
The Belgian is away on international duty at the moment, but it is said that Lukaku is open to joining Arsenal. Chelsea also want their ex-player back, but Arsenal appear to be leading the chase for the Belgian forward after reportedly agreeing personal terms.
