da realsbet: While many still believe that Jurgen Klopp certainly has what it takes to raise Liverpool Football Club from their current fate amongst the English top-flight, successfully restoring the good times back at Anfield will nevertheless prove a task much easier said than done for the enigmatic former Borussia Dortmund boss.
da bwin: As the man currently tasked with keeping things tight between the sticks at Anfield – Simon Mignolet – has nevertheless failed to look all that convincing for the Reds in 2015/16 however, perhaps Klopp’s so-called ‘revolution’ must begin with the sourcing of a new goal-keeper for his team to fall back on this season…
With Leicester City’s Kasper Schmeichel subsequently being linked with an upcoming move to Merseyside in light of his promising form for the Foxes so far this term, could he be the man Liverpool need to take them forward in the modern era?
Well, although many could potentially envisage 29-year-old Kasper Schmeichel eventually following in his father’s footsteps and sealing an illustrious move to Old Trafford in the not too distant future, perhaps the former Manchester City and Leeds United shot-stopper would in-fact excel down at Anfield in front of the Reds faithful.

The Danish international has certainly impressed at the King Power Stadium this season it must be said – and alongside the perhaps more recognised likes of Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy – Schmeichel has successfully transformed himself into an integral member of Claudio Ranieri’ shock title push with Leicester City in 2015/16.
When it comes to organising his back-line effectively from the goal-mouth, making himself predictably imposing in one-on-one situations, and simply getting his side out of trouble on several different occasions when the going seemingly gets tough – this ‘keeper has most definitely failed in disappoint in recent weeks.
In-fact, Kasper Schmeichel has potentially even outshone the likes of Thibaut Courtois and David de Gea in 2015/16, despite both Chelsea and Manchester United playing host to a pair of goal-keepers with much stronger reputations than the aforementioned Danish shot-stopper.
…And given the fact that Simon Mignolet has been at fault for Liverpool on too many occasions to count this season, perhaps it’s only fair that the Reds finally take some action in sourcing themselves a new ‘keeper sooner rather than later. For one reason or another, Mignolet just hasn’t looked like the right fit down at Anfield in many a season now, and potentially only serves to hold his current employers back when looking at his situation from a rather crude perspective.
However, as is also the case with several other high profile Leicester stars touted with big-money moves away from the King Power Stadium this January, why would a player like Kasper Schmeichel ever want to move on from his current employers right in the here and now?
Although such a notion admittedly seemed downright ridiculous at the very start of the 2015/16 campaign, Leicester must now be seen as genuine top-four candidates at this particular stage in the season – and who knows – maybe even surprise title hopefuls when all is said and done…
Liverpool are conversely looking little more than a mid-table Premier League side with dreams to re-assert their dominance back among the English top-flight at some stage in the future. Whilst the Reds have all the money and prestige to potentially improve upon their current fortunes across the course of next season, it could be fair to suggest that such a move would merely represent a step down for Kasper Schmeichel in light of Leicester’s undoubted form throughout the 2015/16 campaign.
But as the likes of Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Fernando Muslera and Federico Marchetti have all been linked with possible moves to Anfield in the run up to the January transfer window, perhaps there are ultimately several other goal-keeping candidates out there who would likely prove more suitable than the current Leicester shot-stopper with all things fairly taken into account.
Simon Mignolet has also recently been handed a new long-term deal at Anfield after all, so maybe the so-called ‘keeping crisis on Merseyside isn’t actually as dramatic as initial appearances first make out.
So then, although Kasper Schmeichel would seem a reasonable asset for Jurgen Klopp to consider bringing to Liverpool this January, this is a move that admittedly feels rather unlikely to take place right now.
